Medicare’s Proposed Changes to Remote Care Management: What To Know

Medicare Changes To Remote Care Management

Watch It On-Demand!

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule. There are some noteworthy additions and changes that, if finalized, would greatly affect the delivery, coding, and billing of remote care management. This includes potentially significant rule changes impacting chronic care management (CCM), remote patient monitoring (RPM), and preventive services.

Watch on-demand as we discuss:

  • Chronic pain management, a proposed new care management service
  • Overhaul of remote therapeutic management (RTM) coding and billing
  • Implementation and extension of telehealth provisions following the end of the public health emergency
  • Allowing behavioral health services under general supervision
  • Reimbursing clinical psychologists and licensed clinical social workers to provide integrated behavioral health services
  • Changes specifically affecting rural health clinics (RHCs) and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs)
  • Requested comments on RPM codes
  • Steps organizations should consider taking in anticipation of proposed changes becoming finalized
  • Topics for which CMS is requesting feedback and what these may indicate for the future of remote care management
